Oh is Out

September 24, 2008

Japanese and world home run king Sadaharu Oh will step down from his job as manager of The SoftBank Hawks.

He is a great example of a foreigner making it in a homogeneous society such as Japan. He is part Taiwanese and still holds his Taiwanese passport.

Although he is the home run king of the world and a successful manager for many years,

He has survived many years of Racism and acknowledgment only to become a better if not great person. I was talking with a Soft Bank Hawks Marketing person and I asked him, “Who will be the next Prime Minister?” and Jokingly I mentioned Oh’s name and his eyes lit up and he said “Yes! Yes! He’d be a great Prime Minister for the people. A very compassionate and hard working Man.”

I wish Oh San All the best in his retirement. You haven’t seen the last of him.
